Stevi B’s Pizza Buffet and McDonald’s Daily Lunch Specials
Lately my girlfriend and I have been enjoying Stevi B’s Pizza Buffet, an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet restaurant chain still growing down here in the southeastern U.S. It’s really giving Ci-Ci’s a run for its money.
Although Stevi B’s is like a dollar more expensive than Ci-Ci’s, we’ve seen time and time again that the Stevi B’s buffet is generally better stocked, the workers are friendlier, and the overall atmosphere and dining experience is generally more pleasant than at Ci-Ci’s. The pizzas at both locations are pretty good, but don’t expect to see the quality levels of Pizza Hut or Papa John’s.
One of my favorite things at Stevi B’s is the dessert pizza, particularly the cherry Bavarian dessert pizza. Some of the restaurants will rotate the cherry Bavarian and only make it a main dessert pizza every once in a while, but you can always ask the workers to make a fresh one for you any time of the year. I was able to enjoy one again yesterday evening, and, wow, was that thing delicious!
We’re always on the lookout for coupons and deals for Stevi B’s. Naturally, we also use the restaurant’s frequent visitor cards and make sure to get each visit stamped. We’ve already earned ourselves a few free meals from our frequent visits.
The other part of today’s post is about McDonald’s new daily lunch specials.
This probably varies between restaurant locations, but around here the McDonald’s restaurants are now promoting their daily lunch deals. Each weekday from 11am to 2pm features a different sandwich (or order of Chicken McNuggets) along with a medium drink and medium order of fries for only $4.99.
For example:
- Monday – Big Mac + medium fries + medium drink
- Tuesday – 10 piece Chicken McNuggets + medium fries + medium drink
- Wednesday – Southern Style Chicken + medium fries + medium drink
- Thursday – Quarter Pounder with Cheese + medium fries + medium drink
- Friday – Filet-O-Fish + medium fries + medium drink
However, this really isn’t as good of a deal as it sounds as long as McDonald’s continues to sell any size of drink for only $1. When you remove the drink from the daily lunch specials, you’re still paying $4 for a sandwich and medium order of French fries. Take out the medium order of fries (~$1.50), and that means you’re leaving about $2.50 for the sandwich alone.
When you break down the pricing, paying about $2.50 for a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder w/ cheese isn’t bad, but it’s not a great deal. I don’t see it as a big enough deal to say, “Let’s run over and get one of those McDonald’s daily lunch specials!” Now if the special lunch price was only $3.99, then I’d find a way to eat lunch there more often. But for $4.99? Ehhh. It’s not enticing enough to get me into the restaurant.
Right now, my way of doing a value meal at McDonald’s is to get the $1 drink and then a combination of McDoubles and/or McChicken sandwiches on the dollar menu. You can get pretty full on two of the dollar sandwiches and a drink, all while paying only $3 + sales tax. That style of value dining at McDonald’s is available each day from lunchtime to closing.
When it comes to good daily lunch specials, my favorite is still SubWay’s deal of a 6″ sub (changes daily) + chips + large drink for only $3.99. Our SubWay location over here features the 6″ turkey and ham sub for the Monday deal. Hooray! Unlike McDonald’s, the SubWay lunch deals are available until closing time. Double hooray!
